“And God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM.’ And He said, ‘Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, “I AM has sent me to you.'” Exodus 3:14 NKJV
Think About It
“I AM WHO I AM”
We have a lot of names for God, and each name tells us something about God. A healer, A provider. A God of justice. A God of righteousness. These names for God help us understand a little more about God’s character and attributes.
In Exodus 3:14 Moses needed some convincing to go to the Israelites and lead them out of bondage in Egypt. Moses knew he was talking God, but he still asked God what he should say when the people ask who sent him. God replied, “I AM WHO I AM”. When God appeared to Moses at the burning bush, He called Himself I AM, an unlimited name. The beginning and the end, the Alpha and Omega. Bigger than infinity. I’d say that covers everything.
Moses still had a lot of objections, but in the end he went to God’s people in Egypt and gave them God’s message through Aaron. Aaron told the people everything that God had told Moses.
“So the people believed; and when they heard that the Lord had visited the children of Israel and that He had looked on their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.” Exodus 4:31 NKJV
The people of Israel believed Moses and followed him into the wilderness. They put their lives in the hands of I AM.
I AM also means that God is the answer for everything. According to the book of Job, He created this world and all of the creatures in this world, He knows how everything works, and He even knows how to handle Satan. He is the only One who is big enough and unlimited enough to handle everything, to be everything, to know everything, etc.
I AM the Savior
I AM the Healer
I AM the Refuge
I AM the Provider
I AM the Protector
The list is inexhaustible. Whatever your need is right now, fill in the blank with a God minded solution. I AM is always the solution. He’s big enough and unlimited enough to handle everything. He wants us to put Him in His proper place, and then He will do amazing things. That doesn’t mean that He always does what we want Him to do. My view is limited, and I only see a small portion of the big picture. But God sees everything. He always knows what’s best. Always remember that God is unlimited, we are not.
What situation are you going through today that needs I AM?
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank you for being I AM. You see the whole picture, past, present, and future and I only see part of it. Thank you that You are so unlimited that You know exactly what should be done in every situation. Help me to trust You with every part of my life. In the name of Jesus, Amen
